Who Is the Cailleach?

Our name, "Cailleach," reflects our deep connection to the rich spiritual heritage of Scotland and the powerful role women play in this field. The Cailleach is a figure from Scottish folklore, often depicted as an ancient, wise woman associated with the changing seasons and the natural world. She symbolizes the strength and wisdom of the feminine spirit, making her an ideal representation for our services.

The majority of mediums—68%—are women, and women have historically been among the most famous and successful mediums. This strong female presence in mediumship aligns with the nurturing, intuitive qualities often associated with women, which make them particularly adept in this field. In a profession where 95% of reading clients are female, understanding and embracing this female-centric dynamic is crucial. We also recognize that mediumship can sometimes be misunderstood or conflated with witchcraft, which historically led to stigmatization.
